Welcome to Our Lady of Grace Parish, a Family of Faith
The Presence of Christ, a Beacon of God’s Love
Our Lady of Grace Parish is a faith filled community that embraces diversity and has adapted to the changing environment while maintaining its core Catholic values and identity. By remembering those who have come before us, we honor the legacy of the diversity of our founders who, molded by God’s blessings and the holy priests He empowered, joined together to establish our church.Fr. “Nowhere on earth are you more welcome, nowhere on earth are you more loved than by Jesus, living and truly present in the most Blessed Sacrament. The time you spend with Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament, is the best time you will spend on earth. Each moment that you spend with Jesus, will deepen your union with Him and will make your soul everlastingly more glorious and beautiful in heaven, and will help bring about an everlasting peace on earth” Saint Teresa of Calcutta (Mother Teresa)
St. Anne Church was established in 1919 by Father William Cleary in response to the needs of a growing and multi-ethnic Catholic community in East Moline. Today, over 100 years later, we are still a faith-filled community that embraces diversity and has adapted to the changing environment while maintaining its core Catholic values and identity.
Catholics first gathered as a community under the spiritual leadership of Fr. John G. Alleman in the 1850’s. St. John’s was formally founded in 1878 as a mission. Our ancestors worked hard to lay the foundation of our parish persevering despite harsh and severe living conditions. Even after the first two churches of St. Mary’s were destroyed by fire, they remained firm in their faith.
“God loves us, God loves you all, and evil will not prevail!”
— Pope Leo XIV
Our Lady of Grace Parish December Event
East Moline Lighted Parade
As we continue to form the Our Lady of Grace Parish family, our December event will be an entry in the East Moline Lighted Parade on Saturday, December 6, at 5:00 pm.
The parade route begins at Cones on the Corner, 1152-15th Ave., East Moline. We will line up between 4:00-4:30 and then walk alongside our float which will be a depiction of the Nativity. We will also distribute items reflecting the true meaning of Christmas and our love of Jesus.
At the end of the parade, we will head to Cleary Hall for cocoa and cookies to celebrate the Feast of St. Nicholas, which is also December 6. This is a great event for the whole family! Dress in layers! Wear lots of lights! All children must be accompanied by an adult to walk in the parade.
If walking is not your thing, then just join us for the cocoa and cookies. We also need donations of Christmas lights which can be dropped off at the parish office Monday through Friday, 8:30-3:00, attention Connie Vervaecke.
In order to have plenty of cookies an cocoa, Sign Up Sheets will be located in the back of both St. John and St. Anne churches. Contact Connie Vervaecke at connievervaeck1@gmail.com or Connie Ertel at connieertel@gmail.com
