Knights of Columbus - Leo Council #716
Thanks to the efforts of Father Michael J. McGivney, assistant pastor of St. Mary’s Church in New Haven and some of his parishioners, the Connecticut state legislature on March 29, 1882, officially chartered the Knights of Columbus as a fraternal benefit society. The Order is still true to its founding principles of charity, unity and fraternity.
The Knights was formed to render financial aid to members and their families. Mutual aid and assistance are offered to sick, disabled and needy members and their families. Social and intellectual fellowship is promoted among members and their families through educational, charitable, religious, social welfare, war relief and public relief works.
The history of the Order shows how the foresight of Father Michael J. McGivney, whose cause for sainthood is being investigated by the Vatican, brought about what has become the world's foremost Catholic fraternal benefit society. The Order has helped families obtain economic security and stability through its life insurance, annuity and long-term care programs, and has contributed time and energy worldwide to service in communities."

Underwear Because We Care
Every year hundreds of people in the Quad Cities go without the basic necessity of undergarments. This is a campaign to collect and distribute this necessity to those who are in need.

Christ Child Society
The Christ Child Society is a national organization which is dedicated to helping children regardless of race or creed. The Quad Cities chapter of the Christ Child Society is now partnered with the Women’s Choice Center to promote life for newborns and all children of this area. The signature project of the group is to make and assemble layettes which are given to women who have a positive pregnancy test at the Center. These layettes for newborns are also given out at Mercy One -Genesis and UnityPoint Hospitals in the Quad Cities. Another project of the Society has been to give out age-appropriate books, clothing and shoes to the Head Start Program. A fund raiser that helps the Christ Child Society with these projects is the Baby Bottle Campaign, done at various parishes, where baby bottles are filled with change, bills and checks. If you would like more information or wish to help with these projects, contact Corinne Briggs at jcbriggs470@gmail.com.
Memorial Mass
Every year Our Lady of Grace hosts an annual Memorial Mass to honor the memories of loved ones who passed the year prior. Parishioners are invited to submit the names of their loved ones in order to have them honored in this Mass. Family members will be given a rose to carry as their loved one’s name is read during Mass. Following the Memorial Mass, OLG hosts a Memorial Luncheon where loved ones have the opportunity to share favorite memories. Reservations for this event are required. Contact the parish office for more information.
